# How to manage heat draws

**Here's how to manage heat draws in your competition:**

|| We recommend building the heat structure (heat draws) once all competition entrants have registered.

1. Navigate to the Competition Dashboard → Schedule → Create Draw.
2. Set Entrants per heat, how many competitors per heat (e.g., 4).
3. Set the Heat duration, how long the heat will go for (e.g., 20 mins).
4. Set **Heat Advancers, **how many competitors will advance from the heat (e.g., 2).
5. Ensure the **Advance Rate** is set (usually 50%) so the system automatically progresses winners to the next round.
6. **Manual Overrides**: Use the Manage tab to drag and drop surfers if you need to manually seed or move someone between heats.
